ERI Recognized as a Representative Vendor in 2023 Gartner Market Guide for IT Asset Disposition (ITAD)

NEW YORK–()–ERI, the nation’s largest fully integrated IT and electronics asset disposition (ITAD) provider and cybersecurity-focused hardware destruction company, has been named as a Representative Vendor in the 2023 Gartner Market Guide for the ITAD industry.

Gartner, a leading IT market research firm, issues its Market Guide annually to provide an overview of important issues for enterprises to consider when developing their ITAD program and selecting a service provider. It also lists a representative sample of a variety of vendors in the ITAD market. ERI is named among these vendors.

“ITAD has become a growing focal point for IT sustainability initiatives and the circular economy,” noted Gartner, Inc. in the Market Guide. “Indeed, environmental sustainability is now among the top 10 strategic business priorities for CEOs. And with e-waste the fastest-growing waste stream in the world, those responsible for ITAD are now key players in the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and waste.”

ERI has the largest owned and operated ITAD processing footprint in North America, with its nine carbon neutral processing facilities totaling about 1.5 million square feet distributed across the U.S. (which minimizes logistics carbon footprint) and certified to SOC 2, NAID AAA and ISO standards 9001, 14001, 45001. It is among the few ITAD providers whose facilities are all both R2 & BAN e-stewards certified. ERI has also achieved an overall “A” rating from the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s circular economy performance measurement tool, Circulytics.

Whereas some ITAD suppliers outsource the back-end recycling component of the ITAD process, one of ERI’s distinguishing features is its in-house shredding technology. The resulting commodity streams are then shipped to ERI’s audited downstream smelting partners, such as minority owners LS MnM (precious metals), Alcoa (aluminum) and Redwood Materials (lithium-ion batteries and solar). This enables ERI to send component material directly into the circular economy, vs. to the open commodities market. ERI’s ongoing focus on and investment in proprietary technology and processes has helped it lead the way in ITAD best practices.

“We’re proud to be named among the other elite vendors in our field in the latest Gartner Market Guide,” said John Shegerian, Co-Founder, Chairman and CEO of ERI. “Not only has ERI repeatedly met the strictest standards of environmental and operational excellence, we also continue to reconfirm our ongoing commitment to data destruction, as assessed by the planet’s leading authorities on the subject. Proper destruction of private digital data has become a crucially important issue and we feel that being name-checked by Gartner shows we are setting the bar high.”
