Once again joining forces with LG Electronics USA to provide Hawaiians with a convenient way to responsibly recycle unwanted consumer electronics, Electronic Recyclers International (ERI), the nation’s leading recycler of electronic waste, has announced a special e-waste collection event to take place in Honolulu this weekend.
“The work we will be doing this weekend to prevent unwanted electronics from ending up in landfills, and partnering with a forward-thinking, environmentally concerned organizations like LG and CEA exemplifies what can be accomplished when great organizations pool their resources for the common good.”
This opportunity for Hawaiians to dispose of their unwanted electronics in an environmentally responsible way – free of charge – will take place on Saturday, Oct. 17 at Kaimuki High School / Moiliili Community Center (Kapahulu Center), at 2705 Kaimuki Avenue in Honolulu between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Electronics will be collected as part of a larger recycling event for the Honolulu community. The electronics recycling portion of the event, sponsored by LG Electronics USA in collaboration with the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA®), is free to the public.
Accepted items include computer equipment, televisions and mobile devices. For this special manufacturing take-back program, ERI will responsibly and securely recycle all e-waste collected by its partner for this event, T&N Computer Recycling Service.
Recycling leader LG Electronics, a 2015 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year, encourages consumers to replace outdated electronics with ENERGY STAR certified TVs and computer monitors, which will help save energy and fight climate change.
“It is an honor and a privilege to once again partner with our friends at LG to benefit the good people of Hawaii,” said John Shegerian, Chairman and CEO of ERI. “The work we will be doing this weekend to prevent unwanted electronics from ending up in landfills, and partnering with a forward-thinking, environmentally concerned organizations like LG and CEA exemplifies what can be accomplished when great organizations pool their resources for the common good.”
