Green is Good Radio Visits GE & Wharton School “Economic Power of Water” Conference

Categories: John Shegerian

The world’s number one environmental radio show and podcast, “Green is Good,” is broadcasting a series of groundbreaking interviews recorded recently at The Wharton School’s “Economic Power of Water” held in San Francisco this summer. The interviews, recorded on site at the conference with some of the world’s most respected thought leaders on the topic of water sustainability, feature analysis of the water-related challenges society is currently facing and offer sustainable solutions.

This month, the show, hosted by Electronic Recyclers International’s John Shegerian, will feature in-depth discussions with Dr. Eileen O’Neill of the Water Environment Federation; Dr. Vincent Tidwell of Sandia Laboratories; Charles Iceland of the World Resource Institute; Heiner Markhoff, Thomas Stanley and Jon Freedman from GE Water & Technologies; Melissa Meeker of the WateReuse Association; Robin Gilthrope of WaterSmart Software; and Bill Swanson of MWH Global.

“It’s an honor and privilege to be able to share with our Green is Good audience the exclusive access provided by our good friends at Wharton to this brilliant collection of minds and authorities on water,” said Shegerian. “With the global growth of both population and economies, the demand for water is hitting unsustainable levels. Beyond the increasing stresses of human and agriculture consumption, water is also used to produce nearly all forms of energy, which further exacerbates the crisis. Yet, even with this rapid and unsustainably growing demand, we’re only reusing 4-5 percent of wastewater; California, one of the leading water conservation states, is reusing just 8-10 percent. Our fascinating discussions with these global thought leaders offer proactive approaches to resolving the problems and reveal ways in which water can actually be seen as an opportunity to be seized to help us achieve a safer, healthier planet.”

Guests interviewed on the global weekly program, heard every Saturday at 5 p.m. EST on iHeart Radio’s America’s Talk Channel, include representatives from many of the best-known brands, businesses, government agencies and nonprofit organizations, who share information on best green practices and messages about environmental responsibility. The show is also syndicated online via iTunes, Stitcher, Spreaker, TuneIn, Vimeo, Soundcloud, libsyn, blubrry and Podfeed.net.

“Working with John and the team at Green is Good is a great way to help spread the word about our research, teaching and thought leadership efforts,” said Joanne Spigonardo, Senior Associate Director of Business Development at Wharton’s Institute for Global Environmental Leadership. “This collaboration can help share with the public at large some practical real world results and cutting-edge solutions for problems our planet is facing. We look forward to future collaborations.”

“Whether we’re talking to a famous actor or athlete, a major international corporation or a great scientific mind, such as the water experts we are featuring this month,” said Shegerian, “there are always terrific stories to be shared and important lessons to be learned. Green is Good has truly become a sustainability brain trust where each of our guests can share success stories, best practices and practical ideas with our audience.”

Videos of many of the interviews are now also available on Green is Good’s YouTube channel.
